Itinerary : 8 days/7 nights – 3 nights Palermo, 1 night Agrigento, 3 nights area Taormina/Acireale
DAY 1 ARRIVAL
Arrival of the group in Palermo airport. Welcome by the tour escort and transfer to your hotel in the area of Palermo/Monreale, dinner and overnight.
DAY 2 PALERMO / MONREALE – City Tour
The whole day is dedicated to the visit of Palermo and Monreale. Visit of the most important monuments, like the Palatin Chapel into the Norman Palace and the Cathedral of Monreale Dinner and overnight in Palermo area.
DAY 3 SEGESTA/ERICE/MARSALA “ The Western Province’’
Visit of Sicily’s major wine production area. The first stop will be in Segesta. Afterwards we will reach the little medieval town Erice. The journey continues towards Marsala, and a visit to one of the traditional cantinas is a must! Dinner and overnight in Palermo area.
DAY 4 PIAZZA ARMERINA/AGRIGENTO “Luxury life in ancient times’’
Leaving Palermo, today the journey leads you right into the mountains of central Sicily. Near Piazza Armerina you will visit the famous Villa del Casale, decorated with marvelous mosaic pavements representing either mythological themes as well as scenes of daily life. Afterwards the journey continues to another important remain of the Magna Graecia: Agrigento, visit of the valley. Dinner and overnight in Agrigento.
DAY 5 MODICA/NOTO/SYRACUSE “ Honey-colored baroque’’
Continuing along the south coast you reach the province of Ragusa. Have also a stop in Modica. And don’t miss the traditional handmade chocolate Continuation to Noto. Afterwards you in arrive the most important Greek colony in the western Mediterranean: Syracuse Visit and continuation to Taormina Area for Dinner and overnight.
DAY 6 LIPARI/VULCANO “ the islands of the wind god’’
Today we leave Sicily for a trip to the Aeolian Islands. By coach you reach the harbour Milazzo, from where you take the excursion boat to the main island Lipari. Here time to discover the pretty little town of Lipari with its impressing citadel and remains of the Neolithic and bronze age. Then short crossing to the island of Vulcano
From Vulcano the ship takes you back to the main island and by coach you return to your hotel.
Dinner and overnight in Taormina Area.
DAY 7 MT ETNA & TAORMINA “ the good giant’
Today you will discover Europe’s highest active volcano: Mt. Etna. By coach you climb up the east slopes through vineyards and citrus groves, chestnut woods and bizarre lava landscapes until you reach the bus station Rifugio Sapienza at 1.900 mts a.s.l. Free time and continuation to Taormina. Time on leisure in Taormina for a walk through the medieval center, for enjoying the view from the Greek-roman theatre or also for some shopping in the small boutiques. Dinner and overnight in the area of Taormina/Acireale.
DAY 8 DEPARTURE
Breakfast and free time until departure from Catania Airport
