Food & wine tour : journey through the island of 1000 flavors
Itinerary 8 days/7 nights
1 night Cefalù¹, 1 night Palermo, 1 night Marsala, 1 night Ragusa, 3 nights Taormina area.
Day 1. ARRIVAL
Arrival at Catania Airport, welcome by your tour escort, and transfer to your hotel in the area of Cefalù¹. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2. PALERMO “ The lively capital’’
Today we will have a guided tour visiting the main sites of Sicily’s capital: the Norman cathedral, the Palatine Chapel in the Norman Palace, now seat of the Sicilian Government, the cathedral of Monreale, the square Piazza Pretoria, the Quattro Canti and a lot more. In the evening, we will drive to Mondello at the seafront, famous for its excellent fish restaurants, where you will be served a superb fish menu. (alternative: the fishing village of Sferracavallo). Overnight in Palermo.
Day 3. ERICE/MARSALA “ close to North Africa’’
Today our journey leads us towards the west coast. The province of Trapani is the largest Sicilian area of wine production. First, we will reach the medieval town of Erice. In past centuries, the production of marzipan and almond biscuits has been a specialty of the nunneries, meanwhile nowadays the local pasticcerias follow this tradition. In the afternoon we will reach Marsala, visit of a wine cellar. Dinner in one of the characteristic local restaurants in town, where you will taste the typical cuisine of the west coast, strongly under Arab influence: specialties of the region are for example couscous or tuna fish. Overnight in Marsala or area.
Day 4. AGRIGENTO/RAGUSA “ Temples & wine’’
Our journey leads us today along the south coast, the so called ‘African Sea’, to Agrigento, where you will visit the worldwide famous Valley of the Temples. We Continue travelling into the province of Ragusa, obviously we cannot miss the visit of one of the wine cellars here. Overnight in the area of Ragusa.

Day 5. RAGUSA /MODICA “ enjoying Inspector Montalbano’s favorite kitchen”
The countryside and the typical villages were used as well as a scenery for the TV series of inspector Montalbano. Many cities here are famous for its baroque style architecture. An old tradition in Modica is the production of chocolate. After our visits, the journey goes back towards north, and we reach the area of Taormina, where the next overnights are planned. For the evening dinner in one of the cozy little restaurants.
Day 6. TAORMINA ‘’the pearl of the Ionian Sea “ cooking class
Today you will learn a lot about the theoretical and the practical aspect of the Sicilian cuisine. Afternoon at leisure for shopping in Taormina, a visit of the Greek theatre, or a walk along the seafront. After the sophisticated menus of several courses, tonight you will be served a classical Italian stone oven Pizza. Return to your hotel and overnight.
Day 7. “MOUNT ETNA” the fertile giant
You will combine today the geological aspects of Mount Etna with a taste of its products. You will visit extinct craters and the lava flows of the most recent eruptions. One of the most typical of the area is the production of honey, with different flavors.
In the evening farewell dinner in a nice, typical Sicilian atmosphere. Return to your hotel, overnight.
Day 8. DEPARTURE
After breakfast, time at leisure until your transfer to Catania airport.
